Happy 3 Months!
Here are your "3 month milestones":
You consistently sleep at night. We count on you waking up once - we never know if that will happen around 1 a.m. or around 4 a.m., but it's always just once - and you are super happy in your crib. You wake up talking to yourself, instead of crying like you did in your rock 'n play. I think you were too big for that! You love being able to kick around in your crib. When I come in to your room in the morning and you see me, you're all smiles, and it's so cute.
You have a routine. You wake up, eat, play, nap. I know you'll be awake for about 2 hours, and then you'll get a little cranky because you're tired. You'll sleep anywhere from 20 minutes to 45 minutes. And then we start over again.
You started drinking formula. And you love it! Thank goodness. Much easier to give you bottles this way.
You are obsessed with your hands. Really. You can't get enough of them.
You laughed!
You are starting to put everything in your mouth. I think that's a sign of teething (not really sure). But you're starting to grab things, and if you can, you bring them up to your mouth.
You weigh a little over 12 pounds.
Happy 3 Month Birthday!
You Are Two Months Old
Dear Virginia,
(sorry this is a couple of weeks late)...You're two months old. Here is a list of things you've accomlished in your second month:
Self-soothing - this is HUGE! You have found your fists and thumb and have put yourself to sleep a few times sucking on them. If you aren't falling asleep, you at least entertain yourself for a while.
You hold your head up so well. One of the first things people say when they meet you is how alert you are and how great your head control is. Since you're our first, we have nothing to compare your growth and development to. So it's nice to hear other people comment and give us feedback! Apparently, you're doing great.
You sleep so well. You average one "wake up/feeding" per night. Sometimes you'll stir a bit outside of that feeding, but you quickly go back to sleep with a pacifier or your thumb. Other nights, you'll amaze us and sleep through the entire night! (thank you)
You went on your first plane ride (and you were great!).
You had your first babysitter (thank you Andi!). You were great for her too.
You've discovered Lola. You're super curious about her. I can't wait for y'all to be able to play together.
You watched your first Saints game.
We have nicknamed you Curious George. When we take you out, you are usually awake and looking around at everything. You're perfectly happy as long as we have you facing out so you can see what is happening around you.
You LOVE it when I sing to you. If I sing you a song (right now we are focusing on Disney songs), you immediately start smiling and are so happy. So we sing pretty much all day long.
You love TV. I'm pretty sure it's the light you're fascinated by, but let's be honest...you're probably going to be a TV junkie like your mom.
You have the most infectious smile. Your dad said it perfectly when he said you smile with your whole face. It's adorable.
Ok, I promise to post these monthly milestone updates on time in the future! For now, here is your two-month photo shoot...
Love you.
Love,
mom

Your First Trip to Fort Worth!
We took you to Fort Worth for Labor Day Weekend to visit family and friends and to watch the TCU/LSU game. This was a big game. BIG.GAME. Your dad and I went to TCU, and a lot of your relatives went to LSU. We've been waiting for this game for 5 years! And getting to introduce you to our friends and Fort Worth all in the same weekend made it even better.
You were such a champ. You slept through most of both flights, but when you were awake, you were just giggling and stealing the stewardess' hearts. (thank you for not having a meltdown!) You are not used to being around so many people and being out and about all day long. You were so good. And you started sleeping longer than you ever have! You kept it up our first night back home, so I hope this new sleeping pattern is sticking around.
Rodeo Goat with Denise and Laura.
Evelyn and Hunt were very excited to meet you (ok, maybe Hunt was excited!).
Playdate with Andrew and Lilah.
Chilling with Papa G in the hotel lobby (you spent a lot of your weekend doing this).
Meeting Uncle Chris.
Hanging out with Chris and Katie.
Watching the LSU/TCU game.
You started sucking your thumb on this trip! So sweet.
We spent Sunday with all of your Bourgeois cousins...

Visit From Your Aunt Sarah
Aunt Sarah came to see you last week! We had so much fun showing her around town, and she loved spending quality time with you.
She would hold you in the mornings so I could get a little more sleep.
She would sing songs to you.
She took you shopping (even when the sales ladies were very annoyed that she had a huge stroller with her!).
She helped with bath time.
And she cuddled with you. And most importantly, she agreed to be your godmother :)

Out and About
We had two fun outings last weekend with you! We went to Carvallo Point for a late lunch on their porch (amaze views of the Bay). The porch sits under the bridge, so it's a great spot for hanging out. Everyone thought you were sooooo cute. Naturally. Then on Sunday, we met up with some friends who are out here house hunting for Off The Grid. This is a traveling food park event that sets up in the park in the Presidio every Sunday. I can't believe we didn't know this was happening every Sunday! This will be our new Sunday spot for sure. You did awesome...the wind used to really bother you, but you're much more tolerant now. And since you're awake for longer periods of time and actually enjoying being awake, you were just chilling the whole time! Such a good baby :) In other news...you're still smiling all the time and your hair was looking super neon orange this past weekend and you loooove your playmat!
Love you to pieces!
Two Month Vaccines
We took you to the doctor this morning for your two-month vaccines (you're getting them a little early since we are going to Fort Worth in a few weeks). You did so great! You cried when you got the shots, but you were fine as soon as your dad picked you up for a hug. You were even smiling again before we left :)
You've been smiling SO MUCH! It's really fun when you're awake and in a good mood. I tried to start sleep training you this week, but I think you're a little young for that. It requires you eating every 4 hours instead of every 3 hours. But you've started stretching that first part of the night on your own, so we're going to stick with what we're doing for now.
You're still loving your bath time. We can't wait for you to be able to sit in the tub on your own so you can really splash around and play! Here are a few pictures from this past week...
Hmm...this was after the first night I tried sleep training you and you revolted by waking up every 1.5 hours. You wouldn't know it from this picture taken just a few hours in to the day though! Chubby cheeks :)
It's cold here this month! We had to buy you a little cardigan. I've started buying you something every time we go to Target :) It's purple, naturally...I figured your dad would have less of a problem with the impulse purchase if it was purple.
At the doctor (pre shots).
Is dad telling you what's about to happen???
Post shots. You were such a rock star though! You were smiling again in no time.
